Four-Star ’21 QB Miller Moss talks local offer
Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany junior quarterback Miller Moss picked up his latest offer from a school close to home.
Moss is one of the top prospects in the 2021 class and is currently rated the No. 149 player nationally in the 247Sports Composite and No. 131 by 247Sports. He has had a very good off-season and established himself as one the nation’s top quarterbacks in the country, regardless of class.
He’s a strong-armed quarterback who’s a pure thrower with nice pocket presence and feel for the position. He has a natural stroke and the arm strength to make every throw on the field, but also understands when to change speeds and throws with touch and accuracy. He made a nice jump in his development this off-season and looks primed for a big junior year.
His recruitment has really taken off with scholarship offers from schools coast to coast. June was a big month for him landing offers from Alabama, Georgia and most recently USC. Moss landed another local offer earlier today.
“Coach Bible (QB coach) actually offered me a few weeks ago,” Moss said. “I camped with them back in June and then they offered me about a week later. I feel good about UCLA and it’s a big offer for me.
“I like UCLA and they’re going to be a big factor in my recruitment. They’ll be in it for the long run along with a few other schools and there’s a lot of things I like about their program on and off the field.”
Moss broke down what stands out about the Bruin program.
“I like the way coach Kelly runs his program,” Moss said. “Everything they do is efficient and detail oriented, both on and off the field. It’s a very unique program. They have a chess master, Seth Makowsky, that actually works with the players.
“It was cool for me just to sit and talk with him because chess was a game I grew up playing. Then we were able to speak about how playing chess translates to quarterback play, which was really interesting for me. Obviously they’re a great academic school, a top three public university in America, which is something that has a lot of value for me and my family.”
Moss said he’s planning a July visit and talked about his timeframe for making a decision.
“I’m going to visit USC at the end of July,” Moss said. “That was my favorite team growing up. I also want to see where things stands with Texas and Stanford, those are two of the schools I like a lot that haven’t offered yet.
“As for when I’ll make my decision, it’s very unlikely I’ll make a summer decision. If some things were to occur, it’s possible I could but the probable thing will be I’ll play out my junior year and then make my decision.”
